Our Story
Hey Honey Bee Co. founder Joshua Hamburg started beekeeping in 2017, as a backyard hobby to help pollination in the Morningside neighborhood of Atlanta, near the beautiful Piedmont Park. After a neighbor told him that their 20 year old citrus tree, which had never fruited, started producing fruit, he knew that these bees were magical and this backyard hobby grew into a passion and within two years Hey Honey Bee Co. was born.
Here at Hey Honey Bee Co., we are passionate about building a sustainable environment and protecting honey bees. That’s why we started raising bees in 2017 — to make a difference. Bee’s are the most important species on Earth; without them, we would not survive. Raising bees is our way of giving back and supporting mother nature. BONUS: we get rewarded with delicious, local honey.

Today, Hey Honey Bee Co. has over 30 hives located throughout Georgia, including 7 hives in the founders own front yard by Piedmont Park. The remaining hives in Atlanta are maintained in local residents backyards where we provide the equipment, bees, and husbandry. If you are interested in keeping one or more hives in your own backyard and promoting local pollination please contact us and we will be in touch to discuss options, or if you just want to learn about beekeeping, feel free to reach out.
During the fall we relocate some of our bees northeast of Atlanta, to Bowman, Georgia in order collect the rich and consistently award winning Sourwood honey.
We are members of the Atlanta Metro Beekeepers association and with each purchase you are supporting local pollinators.
